2017 US Open Fantasy Golf Picks/ Predictions, Sleepers, Rankings
The 2017 US Open at Erin Hills is just over a week away. It provides plenty of Fantasy Golf action, such as the Milly Maker, a Draftkings Fantasy Golf contest that awards 1 million dollars to the winner, for just a $33 buy in.
One useful stat to look at for Fantasy Golf is the Betting Odds. I will be using the 2017 Oddsshark betting odds (They use Bovada) found here: http://www.oddsshark.com/golf/2017-us-open-odds-betting-preview
Among the best odds are Jon Rahm at 16-1, Justin Thomas at 33-1, and Brooks Koepka, also at 33-1. The longest shots that I like are Bradley Dredge, and Curtis Luck both at 300-1. Medium range guys that I like are Gary Woodland at 150-1, and Matthew Fitzpatrick at 90-1. These guys will make great Fantasy Golf Sleeper Picks.
At the top of my Rankings I have Jordan Spieth at 10-1, and Rory Mcllroy at 9-1. In general, I am trying to stick with long hitters. The short hitters off of the tee can be rather frustrating because they seem to produce more big numbers that can ruin their chances of making the cut. I also look for guys who have the proper perspective to win a golf tournament like the US Open. Guys who will “psych themselves out” are not going to be anywhere near contention. I look at guys like Gary Woodland who have had major real life events that can create unique perspectives about the game. Guys like Curtis Luck who just recently turned pro, and Matthew Fitzpatrick who has the class to succeed here.
Rory Mcllroy is coming off of an injury, and I suspect he will be very familiar with the course. While some other guys may be sharper, Rory should have a nothing to lose attitude. Jordan Spieth is at the top of the class as well, having won this event in 2015. Although, he can sometimes be short off of the tee. If his putter is not on fire he struggles to produce really low scores, but I don't see any reason why he wouldn't putt well here, as he's still one of the best in the world outside of 20 feet.
The 2017 US Open Cut Line Prediction will be posted in the Cut Line Prediction Blog after Round 1.
Good luck and enjoy the golf!
