Open Championship 2016 Fantasy Golf Expert Picks Sleepers and Power Rankings
The 2016 British Open (The Open Championship) is being played at Royal Troon. Since it hasn’t been played here since 2004, It is not entirely useful to look at the past Open Champions, although, for Fantasy Golf purposes, It is always advisable to roster a healthy dose of Champions, regardless of where they have won. Of Course Zach Johnson won the Open Championship last year at St. Andrews, and I think his mental toughness could allow him to play well again this year. Greg Norman set the course record here in ’93, so he gets the honor of being our image this week.
SCOTT PIERCY is one of my picks this week, because he’s been on an epic run. He piercyed (pieced) together four straight top 30’s earlier in the year (which included the Masters), and he has astonishingly finished tied for 2nd in his last two events (which includes the US Open). Speaking of the US Open, JIM FURYK finished T2 as well, and we need to enjoy this guy while we still can. He is an unquestionable Hall of Famer (he has 17 PGA Tour victories).
BILL HAAS also presents great value. He’s got top 25’s in all of the majors (earned through the course of his career), and he’s got a 2nd place, and a 3rd place finish on the PGA Tour this season; the guy just keeps knocking on the door.
After Callum Shinkwin's amazing -7 in the final round of the Scottish Open, maybe he'll have the confidence to make the cut at the Open Championship. He has good stats on the year, and Draftkings is only charging $5400 for him. In closing, SOREN KJELDSEN is my other SLEEPER PICK for the Open Championship in 2016. KJELDSEN has shown his complete game this season. He finished T7 at this years (2016) Masters, followed by a T4 at the Open de Espana, before making the cut at the Players Championship, and finishing 19th at the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open.
